Advance Care Planning Australia (ACPA) is funded by the Australian Government as part of the National Palliative Care Projects and is administered by Austin Health.
Our program is focused on improving advance care planning policy and systems, community awareness, understanding and uptake, workforce capability and quality monitoring and evidence.
ACPA promotes a national collaborative approach to achieving excellence in advance care planning. ACPA delivers national advance care planning leadership, advocacy, communications, advisory services, and education and information resources for consumers, the health and aged care workforce, and/or service providers.
ACPA's objectives and deliverables include:
- greater policy advocacy and ensuring ACP is referenced in relevant government and health sector policies and professional codes of conduct
- improving the usability of the ACPA website and online learning platform with a view to increasing audience reach and impact
- increasing consumer understanding and awareness though the National Advance Care Planning Week initiative
- strengthening the National Advance Care Planning Advisory Service to support consumers and health and aged care workforce and providers
- updating the ACP Implementation Guide for Aged Care to align with the Aged Care Quality Standards
- providing workforce training and education through webinar events, the online learning platform and curriculum resources
- growing the ACPA volunteer program to support ACP uptake
- releasing a National ACP Audit Toolkit in consultation with stakeholders to increase the uptake of quality ACP in the aged care sector and health services
- harnessing health and aged care sector expertise through the National ACP Engagement Advisory Group.
