Palliative care is specialised care and support provided for someone living with a life-limiting illness. It can be provided by a number of different health professionals depending on the illness and the needs and resources of the patient, their family and caregivers. Some people may need the assistance of a specialist palliative care service. Others are cared for by their own doctor and health professionals in the community.
