Research

COVID-19 has been identified as a key issue for health and aged care. The Australian Government has adopted a whole of government emergency response which provides a framework for preparing for, responding to and managing COVID-19 in Australia.

Previously unknown in humans, information about COVID-19 is rapidly emerging from the current pandemic. Researchers together with clinical experts have a key role in the analysis and interpretation of new data and observations.

The National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) is committed to supporting national and international efforts, including NHMRC funded experts, to address the COVID-19 pandemic and its consequences.

The ARC has released advice to Australian research grant holders. Information on COVID-19 related research can also be found by searching the ARC website
The Australian Government has provided $13 million to fast-track research into treatments for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) through the MRFF.
