These instructions will help you create your own bereavement search in PubMed on a topic of your choice. You will be able to search the whole PubMed database for articles on your own topic within the broad area of bereavement, using the general Bereavement Search Filter.

Search for your own topic within bereavement
Let's use the example of cancer in the broad general bereavement context. Results will include references that are about cancer in all literature about bereavement. They will be about both cancer and bereavement.
Instructions
Step 1: Click on this link: Run the Bereavement Search Filter in PubMed now
Step 2: Click on Advanced, below the search box
Step 3: Type your topic search, i.e. cancer, into the top Builder box
Step 4: Identify the 'set number' for Step 1 above (e.g. #1)
Step 5: Click on the word Add next to that search to enter it in the PubMed search box; it will appear in the box below your own topic search and be automatically combined with it
Step 6: Select Search
You can substitute your own search terms in Step 3 to create your own PubMed Search.
Having trouble?
Make sure that you type your search terms in the PubMed 'search' box, and not the CareSearch 'search' box. This mistake could happen if you forget to click on the ‘Run the Bereavement Search Filter in PubMed now' step in these instructions.
