CareSearch’s palliAGED team has developed new online learning modules for nurses to support capacity building for palliative care in aged care.
The interactive modules cover 10 essential topics and will help aged care nurses to learn the fundamentals of palliative care, as well as prepare to support older persons at the end of life. The modules are designed for self-paced learning, are free to use, and come with supporting resources such as an online manual, forms, validated tools, and Practice Tip booklet/sheets. Each module comes with a certificate of completion, and like all palliAGED resources, are practical in nature and grounded in evidence. To learn on how we developed the modules, read our blog.
palliAGED has released new pages to support pharmacists in caring for older Australians. The pages feature information and resources on the important role of pharmacists, managing medications, dosing guides, supporting caregivers, education and professional development, and more.
Dying2Learn was an innovative online course developed by the CareSearch Project to help Australians feel more comfortable talking about death and dying. We are developing a Dying2Learn Hub as part of our new portal. We invite you to have your say on the new hub by signing up as a reviewer and/or answer content polls.
In 2020-2023 we are undertaking a major re-structure to redesign how we connect you with knowledge and resources. One of the new features of the CareSearch portal will be a hub offering resources for diverse communities and groups with specific needs. Help us name the new hub by completing a short poll.
As part of our work CareSearch continuously supports clinicians and the wider community to access evidence-based tools to support palliative care. For many years we have promoted use of the internationally validated SPICT Tool developed to assist with early identification of people with deteriorating health due to advanced conditions or a serious illness.
We are proud to announce that CareSearch is now a platinum partner of the International SPICT Programme.
We are undertaking a major re-structure of our current website to redesign how we connect you with knowledge and resources. The new CareSearch portal will offer a rich set of integrated resources for the palliative care community that can be quickly and easily navigated.
We have collaborated with Multicultural Communities Council of South Australia and Palliative Care South Australia to create podcasts that aim to promote understanding of palliative care and awareness of support services.
