New palliAGED learning modules for aged care nurses

CareSearch’s palliAGED team has developed new online learning modules for nurses to support capacity building for palliative care in aged care.

The interactive modules cover 10 essential topics and will help aged care nurses to learn the fundamentals of palliative care, as well as prepare to support older persons at the end of life. The modules are designed for self-paced learning, are free to use, and come with supporting resources such as an online manual, forms, validated tools, and Practice Tip booklet/sheets. Each module comes with a certificate of completion, and like all palliAGED resources, are practical in nature and grounded in evidence. To learn on how we developed the modules, read our blog.

CareSearch Portal update

Work is progressing quickly on the CareSearch Portal development. Last month, the GP/Primary Health Care Review group met to discuss what the sector needs to support and encourage engagement with palliative care. A proposal is now being developed with draft content being prepared for review later this month.

The Community Centre review group met back in March 2021, and again in May to ‘test drive’ some of the new sections and content. Based on all the feedback received, the Community Centre will be refined and finalised prior to user testing. If you would like to be involved, please visit our portal page and sign up.
